INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT: Mosaic Social and Digital Media Intern (Summer 2021)

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Position: Intern – Social and Digital Media

Location: Virtual

Application Deadline: 06/16/2021

Supervision: Reports to the Executive Board

Preferred Start Date: 06/21/2021 (minimum 10-week commitment)

Compensation: Unpaid – Standards of Learning (SOL) or equivalent credit available upon request


Washington, D.C., June 7, 2021 - Mosaic seeks a motivated college student or recent graduate with an interest in social and digital marketing. The intern will apply marketing techniques to reach a target community by promoting events, programs and posts.

The Social and Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the development of Mosaic’s online community. Under the supervision of the Executive Board, the intern will maintain Mosaic’s presence on various social media platforms and Mosaic’s website, and help create and publish content that is relevant to Mosaic’s member and supporter base. 

Responsibilities

  • Grows online social networks by increasing member base and interactions.

  • Writes and schedules social media posts.

  • Responds to posts and comments to bring value to user’s interaction with Mosaic. 

  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources or other content that is relevant to our supporters and posts to social networks in a manner that invites conversation and interaction. 

  • Utilizes analytics and reporting tools to assess trends and activities.

  • Organizes and archives digital images and videos.

  • Completes other digital media projects and research projects as assigned.

  • Takes pictures and videos at Mosaic special programs, volunteer events and day-to-day activities to be developed into content for the website and/or social media pages (optional, if local).

Preferred Skills

  • Skilled in using social media platforms, web portals and design websites, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Squarespace and MailChimp.

  • Canva (or equivalent) to conduct basic photo editing and to create unique designs for event flyers, etc.

Requirements

  • Available to virtually work a minimum of 10 hours a week.

  • Interest in social media, graphic design, marketing or a related field. 

  • Must be a self-starter who is comfortable both taking initiative and working in a collaborative environment.
