Aimen served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Investment Security at the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2014-2018 as a member of the Senior Executive Service.  In that capacity, he was the career head of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), an interagency committee charged with identifying and addressing national security concerns with foreign investment in the United States.  In 2014, Aimen was counsel in the National Security Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.  From 2009-2013, Aimen served as the Staff Chair of CFIUS.  Aimen has been a partner at the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 2019, where he focuses his practice on CFIUS, U.S. technology transfer and export control policy, and other national security and foreign policy-based regulation of international business transactions.
