Lina Khan Confirmed as the Youngest and First Muslim Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in U.S. History
Washington, D.C. - June 16, 2021 - Mosaic welcomes and congratulates Lina Khan, 32, on her historic confirmation as the youngest and first Muslim Federal Trade Commissioner in U.S. history. The Senate confirmed Ms. Khan on Tuesday, June 15, with a high level of bipartisan support for the progressive lawyer (69-28 vote) who is a prominent critic of Big Tech.
The Biden Administration’s decision to appoint Ms. Khan as the FTC’s chairwoman gives her authority over the agency’s agenda, staff and proceedings. Khan was born in London to Pakistani parents and immigrated to the U.S. at age 11.
